Thank God for Everyday Miracles

Slippery pebbles in the sand
a kitten sleeping in your hand,
lions in the jungle shade,
flamingos as they slowly wade,
shadows on the morning lawn,
the awakening of another dawn,
the fragrant smell of new mown hay,
a child engrossed in peaceful play,
an opening bud of a ruby rose,
a baby as it learns and grows,
a new-found, twinkling evening star,
gymnasts on the balance bar,
flying manes and whipping tails,
wolves in soulful midnight wail,
the words we read and those we speak,
the solitude we often seek,
a friend in times of personal stress,
a lover’s hesitant first caress,
a sunset’s fiery crimson glory,
reading your child a bedtime story,
the wash of waves upon the shore,
and oh, so many, many more!
Take time to stop and time to see
all there is of me and thee,
all there is of friend and foe,
all there is of joy and woe:
the ears to hear and eyes to see,
the ability to simply be…
each thing a gift from God above
sent freely with his precious love…
all the wonders along life’s way –
the miracles of every day!

Reading your newsletters and the stories within, it never fails to uplift me after and I feel grateful and thankful for everything I have.
God provides situations for me to see and awareness to appreciate just how blessed I am living in Singapore.

Twas the night before Christmas when all through the house, Everybody was busy, at least mom and spouse. The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, But thefamily didn’t have one minute to spare.
The children were nestled with earphones on their heads, listening to ipods and cell phones in bed.
Mama in the kitchen and I wasn’t stoppin’, Headed out to the store for things we’d forgotten.
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter, I sprang from the Blazer to see what was the matter. My wife hurried over to the car in a flash, Tightening her robe with the red satin sash.
I’ve got a new list, there’s more I’ve forgotten. We need ginger ale, and the bananas are rotten! So off to Kroger I dashed out with speed, Trying to satisfy my wife’s every need.
I parked in a hurry, grabbed a cart, hit the aisles And pretended to be merry as I was greeted with smiles. Here’s the fruit, the juice, bananas, and milk, Bread, eggs, and syrup, and ribbons of silk.
To the register I ran, time to checkout my goods, Zipped my coat, donned my gloves, and threw up my hood. I pulled out the plastic, signed my name on the line And wondered what else I’d forgotten this time.
I got back in the car, but the thing wouldn’t turn over And thought to myself, Oh, when will Christmas be over? When will this madness and rushing all stop, So I can get back to normal and in my chair plop?
When a still small voice down deep in my heart, Jolted my memory and gave me a start! When you stop this rushing and take time to pray, You’ll realize Christmas is here everyday.
The car finally started as I whispered a prayer And when I got home, I called everyone downstairs. We’re missing the mark, and I take the blame. We’re missing out on Christmas and that is a shame.
We need to slow down, we need to take stock, And realize something important that I think we forgot. Presents are nice, and family gatherings are fun, But it’s time to remember it’s about God’s Son.
So, let’s all sit down while I read from His Word, And ask His forgiveness for being so absurd. “And it came to pass” was where we began, Luke chapter 2 about our Savior, our friend.
Let’s never forget what Christmas is about. It’s not about things and we never should pout. It’s not what we don’t have, we are so blessed indeed. We have more than most and more than we need.
So good tidings to all, let’s celebrate His birth, And think what He’s done and ALL of His worth. Be ready for when He returns to our sight. Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.

Enjoyed the poem very much. I’ve never heard it, but it appears to be written by a man. Who is the author?
